Man found shot to death in Temple Hills park

A man was found shot to death in a Temple Hills-area park Monday morning, and detectives are probing the case as a homicide, authorities said.

Someone walking in Oxon Run Park — which sits in the 2600 block of Oxon Run Drive — spotted the man’s body about 7:25 a.m., said Lt. Brian Smith of the Maryland-National Capital Park Police. He said the body was lying in an open area with some tree cover, near picnic tables and a playground.

The man suffered from apparent gunshot wounds, and Prince George’s County police homicide detectives soon took over the investigation, said Lt. William Alexander, a Prince George’s County police spokesman.

Alexander said detectives are still working to determine a motive for the killing and to identify suspects in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
