Man killed after pickup crashes, bursts into flames

A 27-year-old driver was killed early Monday when his pickup truck struck the rear of a tractor trailer on Route 28 in the Chantilly area, police said.

George Tabash, of Centreville, died at the scene of the crash on the Route 28 overpass of I-66 around 1:45 a.m., Fairfax County police said. The Chevy Avalanche he was driving ran into the back of the tractor trailer, which was stopped at a red light, police said.

The pickup truck then burst into flames, police said.

Detectives are still determining whether speed or alcohol are factors in the crash.

The 44-year-old driver of the tractor trailer was not injured in the crash, police said.
