Man killed in morning crash in Pr. George’s

A man was killed Monday morning in a single-vehicle crash on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway in Prince George’s County, authorities said.

The man was traveling northbound between Annapolis Road and Riverdale Road in Landover at about 11 a.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and hit a large tree in the median strip of the parkway, according to county police.

The man was flown to a hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after he arrived, according to emergency officials.

Authorities have not identified the man, who is believed to be in his 40s.

U.S. Park Police Sgt. Allan Griffith said the parkway’s northbound lanes remaiend shut just before 2:30 p.m. as investigators reconstructed the incident. The lanes were expected to stay closed a few more hours, he said, and trafficwas being diverted at the Route 450 exit.

Griffith said authorities are still trying to identify the man, who was driving alone, and according to police was observed driving erratically before the crash.
