Man killed in overnight crash on Beltway in Montgomery County

A driver traveling down on the inner loop of the Capital Beltway near Georgia Avenue was killed early Friday after his car crashed into a tractor-trailer, authorities reported.

The accident occurred about 2:15 a.m. and forced all traffic to exit the inner loop at Connecticut Avenue for more than three hours as police investigated.

All lanes have since reopened, but traffic delays will continue to be an issue through the morning commute.

Police are still working to determine the cause of the crash, which occurred near a construction site. The identity of the driver has not been released.
