Elwood Louis “Louie” Thomas, 28, was arrested in June after a 14-year-old girl said Thomas inappropriately touched her on numerous occasions while she attended Happy Land Daycare at age 11 or 12, police said.
Thomas, who lived on the premises on Holyoke Drive, was not an employee of Happy Land, but had regular access to the children, police said. The daycare, which operated for many years, has since closed.
Thomas has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery in the girl’s case, but police said more charges could be forthcoming in other cases.
Thomas has been released on bond.
