Prosecutors say a Washington man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges stemming from a robbery at a Starbucks at Howard University during which he impersonated a police officer.
A statement from the office of U.S. Attorney Ronald C. Machen Jr. says 50-year-old Ralph Clark entered the coffee shot on April 28, 2010, and told an employee that he was an undercover officer investigating employees at the store. The employee took Clark to a supervisor’s officer, where Clark pulled out a gun and demanded money.
Clark took cash from several cash register drawers, but was spotted by officers near the store and arrested.
Clark pleaded guilty in March to charges that included armed robbery and false impersonation of a police officer.
