BALTIMORE — Authorities say a man has been shot in the student center on the campus of Morgan State University. Police say the gunman is still at large.

Baltimore and Morgan State University police say the shooting was reported about 4:50 p.m. Wednesday. Baltimore police and Morgan officials said the victim was not a student.

The campus was briefly on lockdown. An alert posted on Morgan State’s website at 6:11 p.m. called an all clear, although evening classes were canceled. A police tactical team searched the student center and did not find the gunman.

Morgan spokesman Clint Coleman told The Baltimore Sun that the shooting was “not random,” adding that the victim and suspect likely knew each other. Coleman told WJZ-TV that the victim was in serious condition at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
