Man shot in head in Southeast D.C.

An adult male was shot in the head and critically wounded Thursday afternoon in Southeast Washington, D.C. police said.

Few details were released, but police said the shooting occurred shortly before 1 p.m. in the 2100 block of 16th St. SE, two blocks south of Good Hope Road. Police said the shooting occurred outside on a residential street, and at least one parked car was hit by bullets.

Authorities said the victim was taken to an area hospital were he was listed in critical condition. Witnesses told detectives the shooter was driven away in green BMW, which police said was found abandoned about 16 blocks away, on Park Place Southeast.
