Man shot in Landover area park

A man was shot and wounded Thursday night while sitting in a Landover area park, authorities said.

The shooting happened as a man was sitting in the picnic area of the Kentland Neighborhood Park in the 2700 block of Firehouse Road about 9 p.m., said Capt. Stanley Johnson, a spokesman for the Maryland National Capital Park Police. The victim was found with at least one gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital.

He was expected to survive the shooting, police said.

No further details were available.
