Man shot in Northeast D.C.

A man was shot and critically wounded Wednesday in the Kingman Park area of Northeast Washington, D.C. police said.

Police were called to the 500 block of 25th Place about 4 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a spokesman. The man had been shot in the chest, but he was conscious and breathing, when police arrived, Metcalf said.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police released no further details.
