Man shot near Montgomery Village condominium

A 20-year-old Gaithersburg man is in grave condition after being shot late Saturday in Montgomery Village.

Police responded just after 10 p.m. Saturday to the 19100 block of Montgomery Village Avenue after reports of gunshots. They found the man collapsed in the northbound lanes suffering from a bullet wound.

According to a preliminary police investigation, the man had been with a group gathered in a condominium parking lot near the intersection with Stedwick Road. He began walking south along Montgomery Village Avenue and realized that someone was shooting at him, a police statement said. After fleeing a short distance, he crossed over the southbound lanes before collapsing in the northbound lanes.

Police ask anyone with information on the shooting to contact the MCPD Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
