Man stabbed in Montgomery County park

A man suffered serious stab wounds in a fight with an acquaintance in a park in the Colesville area of Montgomery County on Wednesday evening, police officials said.

Montgomery County and Maryland National Capital Park Police officers responded to a stabbing in the 15700 block of Good Hope Road about 6 p.m., said Lt. Lauryn McNeill, a park police spokeswoman.

The victim was taken to a hospital with wounds that were believed to be serious, but not life threatening.

Police said the victim and his assailant knew each other, but it wasn’t clear what prompted the stabbing, McNeill said.

Officers used a police dog to search the park for the suspect and found him less than an hour later, she said.
