Man stabbed overnight near Friendship Heights Metro station

[This post has been updated.]

Police arrested a 53-year-old man in connection with the Thursday morning stabbing of another man just north of the Friendship Heights Metro station.

The victim, 24, was found about 3 a.m. in the 5400 block of Wisconsin Avenue. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of a stab wound to the chest and a collapsed lung, injuries that were described as non-life threatening. Police originally thought the suspect and victim may have known each other. Further investigation revealed this was not the case.

Police picked up the suspect, identified as Phillip Enyeazyi, 53, of no known address, near Wisconsin Avenue and Van Ness Street NW. He was being held Thursday by authorities in the District, and Montgomery detectives were preparing to serve him with a warrant and take him into custody.
