Manassas pedestrian hit, seriously injured

A pedestrian was struck by a car in the Manassas community of Georgetown South on Wednesday morning and was taken by helicopter to Inova Fairfax Hospital.

The man, about 40 years old, was seriously injured in the hit-and-run incident on Taney Road near Buckner Road in Georgetown South, and charges will be forthcoming when a suspect is found and identified, said Manassas Sgt. Eddie Rivera. Rivera, who did not know the victim’s name, said police are investigating the incident, which occurred about 6:20 a.m.

Another pedestrian was hit about 8 a.m. at Prince William Parkway and Wellington Roads. The driver stayed at the scene to wait for police and charges are not expected in that incident, Rivera said.
