A Manassas resident was arrested for allegedly taping a child’s mouth shut to prevent her from crying, police said.
Kristina L. Moore, also known as Christina Johnson of the 9200 block of Hood Road, was arrested and charged with felony child abuse, police said. The 52-year-old is being held at the Prince William Adult Detention Center with no bond.
Manassas police said they were called to Hood Road on Aug. 3 for an assault call. When police arrived, two people, an adult male and female, told the officer that Moore had assaulted them when they confronted her about an incident that occurred July 30.
The adults, whose names and ages were not released, told police that Moore had taped an infant family member’s mouth shut to prevent her from crying.
Moore is related to one of the adults and is a friend of the other, said Sgt. Eddie Rivera, a Manassas police spokesman. Moore is also related to the child, but Rivera said he could not release further details about the relationship. The two adults were not injured, he said, and Moore was not charged in the incident they had called about.
Rivera said the infant remains with her family, and the the Manassas Department of Social Services has been notified. Moore’s court date is Oct. 5.
