Marine found dead at Fort Meade identified

A Marine found dead Wednesday in his Fort Meade barracks was Private Anthony W. Romanocaruso, 19, whose address was listed as Alamance, N.C., a Marine spokesman said Friday.

His death remains under investigation, said Col. Sean D. Gibson.

Romanocaruso had been in the Marines for less than a year, reporting to recruit training in October and finishing infantry school in January, according to records released by Gibson.

Romanocaruso arrived at Fort Meade in February and was at the Defense Information School, Gibson said in a statement. The school trains personnel from various service branches in public information, videography and photography, according to the school’s website.
