Minor burns for 3 firefighters in Temple Hills

Three Prince George’s County firefighters sustained minor burns fighing a fire at a home in Temple Hills on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Emergency workers arrived at a one-story brick home in the 2900 block of Colebrooke Drive at about 3 a.m. to find heavy smoke coming from the basement, according to a release from the county fire department.

After a search of the home, authorities said, firefighters focused on keeping the fire from spreading to the rest of the structure.

Investigators attributed the fire, which caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, to a malfunctioning dehumidifier.

The eight adults and five children who lived in the home were unharmed and are receiving assistance; the firefighters were treated at an area hospital and later released with first- and second-degree burns.
