Missing girl, Ashlie Mae O’Brien, with family member: Police

A 12-year-old girl who had been missing since last Friday and was considered in danger is in the custody of a family member, Fairfax County police said Friday.

Charges have not been filed in the case and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Ashlie Mae O’Brien was reported missing from the home where she was staying in the 8000 block of Oak Leaf Drive around 4 p.m. Friday, police said.

“There are a set of serious, complex and confidential custodial issues involved in this case,” police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said earlier this week.
