Montgomery College student who made “shooting” remarks hospitalized for evaluation

A 19-year-old Montgomery College student who told people on the Rockville campus Monday that he “felt like shooting people just for fun” because of his distress at a breakup has been hospitalized for evaluation, according to Rockville police.

No weapon was found on the student, who was taken into custody while he ate lunch, or in his car, according to Elizabeth Homan, a school spokeswoman.

The student has not been charged with a crime, and the inquiry into his remarks remains in the “preliminary investigative stages,” said Rockville police Lt. Eric Over.
