Man injured in July motorcycle crash dies

A 50-year-old Maryland man who was injured in a July motorcycle crash in Northeast Washington has died from his injuries, D.C. police said on Friday.

Lawyer Sanford Thompson Jr., of Capital Heights, was pronounced dead Wednesday morning at Washington Hospital Center, according to police.

The accident occurred about 2 p.m. on July 12 on Benning Road approaching H Street Northeast. Police said Thompson was driving a Kawasaki motorcycle west on Benning Road when it collided with a white Nissan Altima whose driver was trying to turn left from eastbound H Street onto Bladensburg Road.

Police said the driver of the Altima had the green light, but that the accident remains under investigation.
