Motorcyclist killed in Montgomery County

A motorcyclist was fatally injured Monday in a collision in the Gaithersburg area, Montgomery County police said.

They said the motorcycle collided with a car about 1:40 p.m near Great Seneca Highway and Longdraft Road. The car was trying to make a left turn in front of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle struck the car’s passenger side door, police said.

They said Michael George Balcom, 24, of Wonderland Way in Germantown, was thrown from the motorcycle. He later died at a hospital, police said.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
