Motorcyclist struck and killed in D.C.

Florida Avenue was closed in Northeast D.C. early Tuesday after a motorcyclist was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer shortly before 5 a.m., police said.

The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene, which is near Eckington Place, according to D.C. police. The driver of the tractor-trailer remained on the scene and is being questioned by police.

No additional details were immediately available.

A police spokesman said the crash investigation is continuing. He could not give an estimate as to when Florida Avenue might reopen. Traffic is backed up. See Dr. Gridlock for the latest on conditions.
