A 15-year-old is being charged as an adult in a sexual assault that occurred last month in Olney, Montgomery County police said Tuesday.

Alvnick Omenga, of the 3000 block of Gatehouse Court, was arrested Monday and charged with the rape of a 22-year-old woman.

Montgomery Police did not say why Omenga is being charged as an adult.

Police said that on Aug. 5, at approximately 1:11 a.m., the woman was getting out of her car on Wagonwheel Court when she was attacked.

Omenga allegedly grabbed her around the neck, forced her to walk away from her car, and assaulted her. After the assault, the suspect fled, and the vicim called police.

DNA evidence has confirmed Omenga as the attacker, police said.

Omenga, who is charged with rape and attempted robbery, is being held on a no-bond status. A bond review hearing will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Rockville District Court.
