Pedestrian fatally struck by car in Aspen Hill

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car while crossing a street in Aspen Hill Monday night.

Montgomery County police said that the victim, a 59-year-old man, was crossing Georgia Avenue at Heathfield Road around 10:20 p.m. when he was hit by a car traveling south on Georgia Avenue.

The pedestrian was flown to Suburban Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.

The driver of the striking vehicle has been identified as a 24-year-old woman from Triangle, Va. Police did not say if she was injured in the collision.

Police have not determined if speed or alcohol were involved and the collision remains under investigation.
