A pedestrian was killed Thursday night by a car that struck him in the White Oak area, Montgomery County police said.

Officers responded to Route 29, near the intersection with Oak Leaf Drive, after a report of a pedestrian accident about 10:30 p.m., said Capt. Paul Starks, a police spokesman. Police found a male, whose age and identity were not immediately known, who was dead at the scene.

A woman driving a Nissan Ultima struck the man in the southbound lanes of Route 29. Police were investigating the cause of the crash late Thursday.
