Pentagon City Mall jewelry heist foiled

Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who went into two stores in the Pentagon City Mall, identified himself as a detective, flashed a badge and said he needed to seize wrist watches as evidence in a case.

In both stores, employees did not give the man the watches, and asked him to leave, according to Arlington police.

The incidents happened Jan. 3. Police said the man was wearing dark clothing and a red and black plaid hat.
