A person was found dead after a fire in a single-family home in the Falls Church area early Monday morning, according to Fairfax County officials.
Just after 4 a.m., firefighters encountered flames coming from the two-story Cape Cod style home in the 6600 block of Orland Street.
As they were fighting the fire, the second story collapsed, Fairfax County fire officials said.
They then discovered a body inside. They have not yet released any information about the person who died.
Officials said there were “hoarding conditions” inside the home. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control.
Both Fairfax County fire and police officials are investigating the case.
The home was destroyed, and an adjacent home sustained minor damages, firefighters said.
