Body found in Beltway lane in Va.

An officer responding to a call for a disabled vehicle found the dead man around 2:50 a.m. in an eastbound lane of I-495 near the Telegraph Road exit in Fairfax County, Virginia State Police said. The body was near a gray Nissan Frontier.

Police believe the pickup truck was involved in a minor collision and the driver, who was not identified, got out of the car. As he walked around it, police believe, he was struck by a passing car, which apparently did not stay at the scene. The Frontier had rear-end damage.

The officer found a 42-year-old Philadelphia man unconscious in the passenger’s seat of the Nissan and charged him with public intoxication.

Virginia State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to call 703-803-0027.
