An 18-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night and charged with shooting and critically injuring another man the day after Christmas in Southeast Washington, according to D.C. police.

Javon Hale of Southeast Washington is charged with assault with intent to kill while armed, police said. He was arrested about 10:25 p.m. on a warrant. Police did not detail the circumstances of the arrest.

The shooting occurred Dec. 26 about 3:15 p.m. in the 1000 block of 14th Street SE near K Street, just south of Pennsylvania Avenue and two blocks from the Potomac Avenue Metro.

Shortly after the shooting, police released video showing four men getting onto an escalator at the Eastern Market Metro station in Capitol Hill.
