Police: Attempted sex assault in Chantilly

A man grabbed a woman as she walked home in Chantilly Sunday night and attempted to sexually assault her, Fairfax County police said.

The suspect approached the 37-year-old in the 4100 block of Elmwood Street around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, police said. The man displayed a weapon and forced the woman to go a short distance, before he attempted to sexually assault her, police said. He then fled on foot.

The man is described as white, tall and of medium build. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket, dark pants and he concealed his face from the victim.

Police said there have been no other reports of similar attacks in the area.
