Police have issued a warning about a man they call “dangerous” who escaped from a Silver Spring hospital on Wednesday night.

Clayton Mollenhoff, 27, went missing from Washington Adventist Hospital about 9:20 p.m., according to a news release from the Takoma Park Police Department.

Police released a photo of Mollenhoff, who in online court records was listed as a Hyattsville resident. He was described as a white male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, who weighs 170 to 200 pounds. He was last seen in the vicinity of the hospital in the 7600 block of Carroll Avenue.

In the news release, police warned that Mollenhoff should not be approached and to “use extreme caution” in his presence. Anyone with information about him is asked to call police at 301-270-1100.

Police said Mollenhoff has a history of violence and “extensive” martial arts training. Catherine Plevy, a spokeswoman for the Takoma Park Police Department, said he has a history of carrying weapons, but police do not know if he is currently armed.
