Police: Drugs found in broken-down SUV

Ronald T. Paige Jr. told the Prince George’s County Police officer that his SUV “just stopped running.”

He probably wishes the officer did not try to be so helpful.

When the officer attempted to start Paige’s gold Acura SUV — which he had spotted stopped in the 7300 block of Landover Road in the Landover area — he noticed a “very strong odor of marijuana,” police said. That lead him to search the vehicle, and he found several pounds of pot inside, police said.

Paige, 23, was arrested Wednesday and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of marijuana, police said. He was later released after posting bond, online court records show.

Matt Zapotosky covers the federal district courthouse in Alexandria, where he tries to break news from a windowless office in which he is not allowed to bring his cell phone.
