Police identify man killed in Lanham-area home

A man shot and killed inside a Lanham-area home Wednesday has been identified by police as Kevin James, 39, of the 10100 block of Old Franklin Avenue.

Prince George’s County police released James’s identity late Friday night. The investigation continues into his death, which detectives do not believe to be a random act of violence.

James was found shot in his home just after 3 p.m. Wednesday. Two men appear to have gone to the back of the house, running into James at the back door, a law enforcement official familiar with the case previously told The Washington Post. The men fled after shooting him, said the official, who was not authorized to speak and feared disciplinary action, spoke on the condition of anonymity to candidly.
