Police identify man killed in Reston shooting

Police have identified the man shot and fatally wounded at a Reston apartment complex Monday afternoon as a resident of the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County.

Colvin Morris, 34, of the 7900 block of Richmond Highway, was shot around 4:15 p.m. and later died at a nearby hospital, Fairfax County police said.

The shooting occurred in a parking lot in the 1500 block of Cameron Crescent Drive, police said. Investigators do not believe it was a random attack, but declined to release additional details Tuesday morning.

Police said they were investigating reports that three assailants were involved.

“The investigation has given us great confidence that the public is not at risk,” said Officer Bud Walker, a spokesman for the Fairfax County police.
