Police identify woman who was found dead inside Riverdale home

Police in Prince George’s County have released the identity and cause of death for a woman who was found dead in Riverdale last week.

Officers discovered the body of 32-year-old Maritza Alfaro-Abarca inside her home in the 5600 block of Kennedy Street around 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 24.

Alfaro-Abarca had been stabbed, and she was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Police said that officers went to the home to check on Alfaro-Abarca’s welfare. The reason for the welfare check has not been released.
