DC police investigate possible killing in Northeast

D.C. homicide detectives are investigating a possible killing in Northeast in the same block as an elementary school, though there does not appear to have a connection to the school, officials said.

Commander Andrew Solberg, who runs the Fifth District, said Monday that the body of a middle-aged man was found at about 11 a.m.

The victim’s identity has not been released. He died of an apparent gunshot wound, police said.

“It’s a quiet area,” said Solberg. “This kind of thing is unusual there.” said 5th district commander Andrew Solberg.

The crime scene was in the 3100 block of Fort Lincoln Drive near Marshall Elementary.

The incident is near the District’s new Costco store.
