Police investigate fatal stabbing in Southeast

District police have arrested and charged a 27-year-old man with fatally stabbing another man Tuesday night in Southeast Washington.

The suspect was identified on Wednesday as Samuel Nelson of Southwest. A D.C. police spokeswoman said he has been charged with second degree murder while armed.

Police said the stabbing occurred outside about 8 p.m.near Naylor Road and 30th Street. Police said the victim, Darnell Howard, 36, of Southeast, died at a hospital.

Authorities released no other details pending Nelson’s arraignment in D.C. Superior Court.
