A Maryland man was arrested after leaving his two young children in the car while he went shopping, the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office reported.

About 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, 41-year-old Anisur Rahman allegedly left a 4-year-old child and a 5-month-old infant unattended in a car parked in the lot of a Wal-Mart store in Frederick.

Authorities said the kids were left alone for about 20 minutes. The outside temperature Tuesday afternoon was 24 degrees.

Officials did not say what Rahman purchased at the store.

Rahman, of Point of Rocks, Md., was arrested and charged with child abuse, and the children were released to their mother, deputies said.
