A D.C. police officer shot and wounded at least one person following a confrontation with three individuals in Northwest D.C. early Friday morning, police said.
Police were called to the scene at First and Pierce streets around 5:25 a.m., said Officer Tisha Gant, a D.C. police spokeswoman. The number of people shot is unclear, but Gant said any injuries are non-life threatening.
Gant said she did not know whether the officer was on duty at the time of the shooting, but the shots were fired from a police service revolver.
D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier was on the scene of the shooting earlier this morning, Gant said. No additional details were immediately available.
