Police ID man who found on U-Md. campus

Police have identified a man who was found unconscious on campus Tuesday night and pronounced dead a short time later as 21-year-old Adewunmi Omisore Adepegba of Greenbelt.

Adepegba was a student at the University of Maryland, according to school officials.

Sgt. Ken Leonard, a University of Maryland police spokesman, said police found no signs of trauma to the man’s body and do not believe he was killed, hit by a car or committed suicide. He said investigators are awaiting word from the medical examiner’s office on exactly how the man died.

Adepegba was found just before 10 p.m. Tuesday on Field House Drive near Lot Z, police said in a news release. He was not breathing and had no pulse, police said, and he was officially pronounced dead after being taken to a nearby hospital.

Police said the man was not carrying any identification, and they are seeking the public’s help in determining who he was. The man was black, was 6 feet tall and weighed 262 pounds, police said.

He was wearing a black T-shirt with a white tank top underneath, navy blue running shorts with white stripes down the side and multicolored Nike basketball shoes. He had a light mustache and light chin hair and had what appeared to be a diamond earring in each ear, police said.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to contact the University of Maryland Police at 301-405-3555.
