Police seek men who robbed store on Georgia Avenue

Three men, one armed with a gun and wearing a black jacket and baseball cap, robbed a clerk at the Howard Mini Market near the Howard University campus on Thursday, according to D.C. police

Authorities said they escaped in a car that officers later found abandoned near the waterfront, about four miles away. .

Officer Anthony Clay, a police spokesman, said the holdup occurred about 11:40 a.m. He said three men went into the shop in the 2600 block of Georgia Avenue NW, robbed the clerk and escaped in a dark-colored car.

A lookout was broadcast and Clay said officers about four miles away found the vehicle on Howison Place, off M Street SW and a block from South Capitol Street. No arrests have been made.

Clay said a witness saw one of the occupants throw something from the car as the driver sped away from the market. He gave no further details.
