Pr. George’s day-care worker charged with abuse

An employee at an unlicensed day care in Upper Marlboro was charged with child abuse and second-degree assault for abusing a 2-year-old, Prince George’s police said.

The man, Johnathan Desmond Cummings, 19, was arrested Monday. He admitted to kicking the boy Jan. 4, police said.

A witness recorded the incident on video and alerted the boy’s parents, police said.

The day care, in the 13600 block of Wood Ember Drive, has been shut down by the state.

Cummings was released on $35,000 bond. Police say there may be more victims. Police ask anyone with information about the case to call 301-772-4930.
