Pr. George’s police make arrest in January slaying

Police have charged a 27-year-old Gaithersburg man in connection with the fatal shooting of a Suitland teenager in January, authorities said.

Jonathan Blades is charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 5 shooting of 19-year-old Darryl Nicholas McCoy, authorities said. Blades was arrested Monday in the 2900 block of St. Clair Drive in Temple Hills, authorities said.

Cpl. Mike Rodriguez, a Prince George’s County police spokesman, said he did not immediately know a motive in the case or the relationship between the suspect and victim. McCoy was shot to death just after 2 p.m. in the 2000 block of Brooks Drive on Jan. 5.
