Prince William County police have filed additional charges against a Manassas woman accused last week of neglecting young children while operating an unlicensed day care.

Tara Angelyn Loop, 38, of the 8500 block of Somersworth Drive in Manassas was charged last week with cruelty and injuries to children after leaving three children under age 2 in a room by themselves at “Growing Minds Daycare,” her unlicensed home day care.

Loop was also charged with an additional count of cruelty and injury to children for the treatment of her teenage daughter, who police say was forced to work long hours in the home day care.

On Monday, police said that Loop had her daughter remove three children from the day care and take them to a neighbor’s house before police and Child Protective Services arrived to investigate Oct. 2.

Because no permission was given to Loop to transport the children, who were all under age 4, police also charged Loop with three counts of abduction.

Abduction is partly defined by Virginia law as trying to conceal someone from a “person of authority or institution lawfully entitled to his charge.”

Loop’s court date was not immediately available.
