Prince George’s High School student stabbed by another student: police

A 17-year-old Northwestern High School student was stabbed Wednesday afternoon and authorities said they think another student was the assailant.

The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. in the 6700 block of Belcrest Road, less than a half mile from the school, said Cpl. Larry Johnson, a Prince George's County police spokesman. He said the school was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Police said the student’s injuries are not life threatening. They said multiple suspects were being interviewed Wednesday evening.

Briant Coleman, a spokesman for the school system, said he had no information about what caused the stabbing. According to Coleman, neither of the students attended class on Wednesday.

He said the students involved are males.
