Prison for former Va. Beach officer in teen sex case

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A former Virginia Beach police officer has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison on sex charges involving a teenage girl.

Media outlets report that 46-year-old Michael Alan Chilldres was sentenced Monday in Virginia Beach Circuit Court on five counts of aggravated sexual battery and one count of indecent liberties.

Police say the investigation was prompted by a report received by Child Protective Services. Court records show the incidents occurred between 2008 and 2011.

Chilldres was employed by the department from November 1993 until May 2012. He worked in records maintenance at the time of his arrest last December.
