SALISBURY, Md. — A man who lived 12 years as a fugitive in the U.S. Virgin Islands has been sentenced to more than eight years in prison for possession of marijuana.
Beau Lawrence Layton pleaded guilty Tuesday in Wicomico County.
The Daily Times of Salisbury reports that Layton had been convicted in 1998 of distribution of LSD in Wicomico County. While he was on probation in 2000, he was charged with possession of marijuana and other offenses. He fled the county.
In April, Layton was arrested when he tried to return to the mainland.
