Rash of robberies in District Friday night

Half a dozen robberies were reported in the District late Friday in areas across the city that included the Capitol Hill, Columbia Heights and Logan Circle.

The most recent was reported about 11 p.m. in the 1400 block of Q Street NW, about two blocks northwest of Logan Circle.

One of the suspects reportedly wore Redskins gloves, police said. It appeared that no weapon was involved.

The robbery on the southeastern edge of Capitol Hill in the1300 block of G Street SE involved a gun, police said.

The Columbia Heights incident was in t he 1100 block of Irving Street NW.

No injuries were reported and there was no indication that any of the holdups were connected. It could not be determined that the above-average number of robberies in a relatively brief period was anything more than a statistical fluctuation.
