Remains found in Anne Arundel County

Remains that were possibly human were found Sunday morning in an undeveloped area of Anne Arundel County.

Police said they were investigating but had not yet determined the nature of the skeletal remains. “We are actively looking at it,” a police spokesman said.

The remains were found on the western side of Oxbow Lake in the Maryland City area of western Anne Arundel, according to a man who saw police investigating.

The man, Jay Sheppard, who had been birdwatching in the area, said they appeared to include a skull and long bones.

He said the bones were apparently found by people searching for the eurasian teal, which had recently been spotted in the area.
