Southeast man dies after early Tuesday shooting

D.C. police are investigating the fatal shooting of a Southeast man Tuesday morning in Marshall Heights, authorities said.

Police responded to reports of gunshots in the 300 block of 50th Street SE shortly before 1 a.m., authorities said. They found Lamar Marquel Walker, 21, nearby in the 5000 block of Call Place SE.

Walker was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said, and died at an area hospital.

Investigators later determined that the shooting happened in the 4900 block of Call Place SE, police said.

The state medical examiner’s office in Baltimore had not yet performed an autopsy on Walker as of Tuesday afternoon.
